A world without water

"Nothing in the world is more flexible and yielding than water. Yet when it attacks the firm and the strong, none can withstand it, because they have no way to change it. So the flexible over come the forceful. Everyone knows this, but no one can do it".
~ Lao tzu
Poverty, diseases, hunger, inequality you name it. There are lots of things wrong with the world and each has devastating effects on one billion people. But do you know that many of the world's seemingly impossible problems facing our world's poor are linked with lack of clean water. Water is the most valuable resource and the most passionately contested. It is the most important gifts to mankind. Our life revolves around water and is is essential for our health. We don't only use waterfor drinking but we also use it in our daily life for other purposes like washing, cleaning and mainly for agriculture.

Have you ever wondered what a world without water will look like? What would have happened if there was actually no water? Probably, not because you have access to clean water and could do what ever you want to do with it. But do all the people have water? No they don't?  More than a third of the world's population don't have access to clean water and good sanitation facilities. Nearly one billion do not have access to clean drinking water and are forced to drink and use contaminated water which cause many diseases. More than 3 million people die everyday from diseases spread through dirty water and poor sanitation facilities and 5000 of these people includes children. Lack of clean water in house holds causes millions of children in the developing world to suffer needlessly  from disease.

There are at least 120 million school age children not in school and majority of them are girls. Lack of separate and decent water facilities at school often forces girls to drop out of primary school. This lack of education early in life often consigns girls to poverty or dependance later in life. Children in poor environments often carry 1000 parasatic worms in their bodies at a time. There are many countries in this type of situation and these countries includes: Bolivia, India, Pakistan, Africa, Nigeria and many more.

The question is: Why do many people lack water? I think that many countires who have access to clean water just waste too much water. In rich countries people waste tons and tons of water when bathing, brushing teeth, washing clothes and even when washing hands. A minimum 2 500 000 litres or 2.5 mega litres of water is wasted in a large swimming pool.

Many people can't  afford clean water.  It's just too expensive.  In many countries water bills are too expensive people with low income people can't afford water bill and if they don't pay the bill they get no water and this forces them to drink contaminated water. Women and girls in poorer countries spend half of their day just fetching water from distance for drinking and for household uses instead of studying or attending school.

The other reason why people don't have clean water is due to human activities.  Humans are harming the planet in many ways carbon dioxide, gasoline emitted from transportation, methane gas, deforestationand many other harmful pollutants are destroying the environment. This harmful pollutants cause the clean water to pollute. These harmful pollutants cause acid rain. Acid rain occurs when all the harmful pollutants combine with the rain and form acid rain. Acid rain is very harmful for the environment it can damge the stone work and is harmful for marine life. Acid rain causes marine life to die when the acid rain fall in the rivers or seas it pollutes the water allowing the death of many sea animals. Acid rain also pollutes the clean water once it falls on the ground and if anyone drinks the water they can become ill but in most cases people die and who is behind this all it's us. We all are destroying our own home in many ways. We are producing harmful gases by ourselves and are allowing them to damage our own home. All of these harmful pollutants that we produce causes much more harm then we can even imagine.

There are many more countries dealing with a lack of clean water. India is one of the most famous countries in Asia. It is beautiful country and a place to see but many of India's cities don't have clean water either. Rajasthan is city near the desert.  Part of the reason people in Rajasthan do not have access to clean water is that there was a continuous drought for last 20 years. Water supply gets even worse when it is summer. Four towns get drinking water supply once in 96 hours, eleven such towns get water once in 72 hours, and 60 towns get the supply once every alternate day. This is the situation prevailing in Rajathan. The state public health does care about the rising water crisis in Rajathan but when it comes to the government it keeps postponing meetings. People are tired from all of this and want to take an action but don't have enough power to do so.

Water is a wonderful gift for us and you know what happens when there is no water for you. We are lucky that we have access to clean drinking water but there are many more people in the world who do not have clean water but we can help them and there are many ways we can help. We should stop wasting water and should only use how much we need. We can donate money to the water projects or we can go to those countries to help the people. We should try not to produce any pollution as it leads to water contamination. We should make other people aware of what is happening in those countries so they can help too.

Apart from these there are many more ways we can help those people, so let's start today and we can make a big change.
